Cloud Bookshelf

The design for this bookshelf began backwards by first imagining books suspended in a composition on a wall.  The “shelf” was then wrapped around the books to allow them to exist in this composition.  When the lines of the shelf were first drawn to wrap these suspended books, they looked akin to cloud formations, which seemed appropriate as they would float against a wall.  The color palette was specifically chosen to reference white cloud forms against a blue sky and the blue wool felt provides softness, which is also associated with clouds.
