New Salem Table

Curly Cherry, Ash

This table was originally built in the late 1800’s by a furniture maker in New Salem (Now Winston-Salem), North Carolina.  This reproduction uses the same brick-lay method to construct the curves of the apron and mortise and tenon joints for the legs.  The drawer is dovetail construction.  Interior wood is ash and the exterior wood is cherry and curly cherry for the top, drawer front and drawer bottom.  The table is finished with blonde shellac and an oil finish over that for superior protection.
