Rietveld 1923 Table

Poplar, Birch Plywood, Lacquer

This is a reproduction of Gerrit Rietveld’s 1923 side table. The table is made of birch plywood with hardwood lipping at the edges as was done in Mr. Rietveld’s day.  His desire was to create a straightforward design that anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of saws and chisels could recreate.  The style is considered De Stijl.  The finish is a sprayed-on lacquer that is quite durable.
